Thursday 14th March

09:30 - 10:30 (Arrivals from 09:00)

UPDATE - THIS MEETING WILL NOW TAKE PLACE IN COMMITTEE ROOM 17.

Committee Room 17, House of Commons

In 2018, energy use in UK homes increased, with domestic buildings now accounting for 14% of total UK emissions. During the same year, the Green Finance Taskforce reported to government with recommendations to build on the UK’s strengths of a robust database of publicly-available EPCs and a well-established supply chain for energy efficiency products and pump prime the ‘green consumer loans’ and ‘green mortgage’ markets.

With the BEIS Select Committee currently taking evidence on energy efficiency, and on the back of the recent Committee on Climate Change report on UK housing, PRASEG will be hosting a meeting to discuss what steps can be taken to incentivise and increase investment in energy efficiency measures amongst “able-to-pay” home owners. The meeting will consider recent developments relating to green financial products such as green mortgages and the potential role of fiscal measures in accelerating uptake of energy efficiency measures.

Speakers at the meeting will include:

  • Marco Marijewycz - Global Business-to-Consumer Market Manager, E.ON
  • Samantha Crichton - Policy Advisor, Sustainable Energy Association
  • Stephen Richardson - Technical Lead (Energy Efficient Mortgages Project), World Green Building Council
