Tuesday 16 January 2018, 2-3:30pm, House of Commons, Committee Rm 19 The Government has a commitment to move towards a ‘zero waste economy’ where resources are fully valued financially and environmentally. These obligations stand beside ambitious targets for renewable energy – for both electricity and heat. The challenge for Parliament is to sustainably link these policy goals. This PRASEG seminar will address these key challenges. Any waste sent to landfill creates costs for consumers and...
Monday 11 December 2017, 6-7:30pm, House of Commons, Committee Rm 19 As the UK transitions to a more de-centralised and low-carbon economy, the current regulatory arrangements that govern energy markets look increasingly out-of-date. An important debate has emerged from this - how far does the legislative remit of regulators, such as Ofgem, enable them to make decisions that match goals set by the UK’s Climate Change Act and its carbon budgets? With start of this parliament the ‘Clean Growth...
Tuesday 24 October 2017, 9-11am, House of Commons, Committee Rm 15 Decarbonising heat is one of the biggest challenges facing future UK energy policy. The Committee on Climate Change has demonstrated that finding a credible pathway to near- zero carbon heat by 2050 is crucial if we are to meet our emissions reduction targets under the Paris agreement. While greenhouse gas emissions have halved in the power sector since 1990, there has been little progress to date in cutting the 20% of UK...

Tuesday 28 February 2017 11am- 1pm, Committee Room 11, House of Commons *Please note this event is now fully booked* 2020 is fast approaching and “future” energy is no longer a distant goal. New technologies can enable electricity networks to operate more efficiently, reducing demand and the need for costly back- up power, and complementing the integration of renewable energy into the system. Electric vehicles, home and grid level battery storage and Demand Site Response are happening today....
Wednesday 12 October, 1-3pm, House of Commons, Committee Room 12 The rollout of smart meters across homes in the UK, coupled with the announcement from Ofgem of half hourly settlement for domestic electricity use by 2017, provides a new landscape in which innovative new technologies can start to be scaled up to impact the way consumers, business and the public sector engage with energy. Smart energy has the potential to reduce consumer bills, give consumers greater choice about where their...
Date: 08 June 2016, Time: 10:00am- 12:00pmLocation: Committee Room 7, House of Commons Transport accounts for around a quarter of UK greenhouse gas emissions and significantly affects roadside air quality. Decarbonising transport by promoting low carbon vehicles, and attracting investment and uptake in innovative new technologies is essential in making our cities cleaner, greener and smarter.

03 December 2015 - The successful achievement of the UK’s carbon targets will depend upon the decarbonisation of our energy system. As an increasing range of technology choices are now becoming available across the low carbon sector, there is now a broad spectrum of energy system scenarios that could be envisaged, progress of which will depend to a great extent on the outcome of policy choices and investor actions over this Parliament.
3 November 2015 - Gas will continue to play a major role as a bridging fuel in the transition to a more secure, cleaner and affordable energy mix and contributing to help meet the UK’s climate change commitments. Creating a lower carbon future is anticipated to lead to a significant transformation to our energy networks, bringing both opportunities and challenges for policy makers and industry.
14 July 2015 - The PRASEG annual conference once again brought together key decision makers in the sustainable energy industry to review current and forthcoming policy priorities.
Tuesday 3rd March2015 - The last decade has seen the UK automotive industry make a gradual, but significant shift to low carbon vehicles. This has been driven by changes in policy at both the UK and EU level including targets set out in the UK Carbon Plan to provide infrastructure to support the shift to low carbon vehicles. Technological advancements have also led to a proliferation of choice and better efficiency of low carbon vehicles, further supporting a rise in public demand.
3rd February 2015 - Biomass for heating has the potential to play a huge role in meeting decarbonisation targets in the UK beyond the UK’s 2020 renewables target and yet the UK Government’s existing bioenergy and heat strategy portrays a limited role.
