Co-organised with the APPGs on Climate Change and Compassion in Politics, Bim Afolami MP, Debbie Abrahams MP and Caroline Lucas MP, will host this online Webinar on Thursday 21 May to discuss the prospects for UK economic recovery post Covid-19, how we can build a more resilient and secure United Kingdom, and how the post Covid recovery might be paid for.

Moderated by Channel 4 News' Krishnan Guru-Murthy, expert panellists will include:

  • Prof Sir Michael Marmot - Professor of Epidemiology at University College London, Director of the UCL Institute of Health Equity, and Past President of the World Medical Association. He is the author of The Health Gap: the challenge of an unequal world and Status Syndrome: how your place on the social gradient directly affects your health. At the request of the British Government, he conducted the Strategic Review of Health Inequalities in England, which published its report 'Fair Society, Healthy Lives' in February 2010 and published a 10 years on inquiry in 2020.

  • Prof Mariana Mazzucato - Professor in the Economics of Innovation and Public Value at University College London. She is also the Founding Director of the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose. She has researched and written about theories of value in the economy, the role of the state as a risk taker and innovator, innovation led inclusive growth and mission-based policies. 

  • Prof Tim Jackson - Professor of Sustainable Development at the University of Surrey, and Director of the Centre for the Understanding of Sustainable Prosperity (CUSP). Between 2004 and 2011, he was Economics Commissioner on the UK Sustainable Development Commission. He is the author of the internationally acclaimed book: Prosperity Without Growth—Foundations for the Economy of Tomorrow.

  • Sir David King - Emeritus Professor in Physical Chemistry at the University of Cambridge, Director of the Collegio Carlo Alberto, Chancellor of the University of Liverpool and a senior scientific adviser to UBS. He previously served as the Foreign Secretary's Special Representative for Climate Change, Chairman of the Future Cities Catapult, and as Chief Scientific Adviser to both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.
